3 Ways to Style Lilly Pulitzer In the Winter

If you know me, you know I LOVE all things Lilly Pulitzer! The prints are so happy and cute and overall, just put a huge smile on my face. If I had it my way, I’d live somewhere sunny where I could wear neon prints and shift dresses all year long, however, that’s not in the cards right now. Sometimes I need to be creative to wear my Lilly Pulitzer in the winter!

Living on Long Island, we get a fair amount of snow – as much as I like to pretend, we don’t – so wearing sun dresses isn’t always a practical option. Luckily, I’ve come up with a few ways to sneak in a little sunshine and color no matter what the thermometer may say.

Tip #1: Layer with Colorful Cardigans

Lilly Pulitzer makes the cutest cardigans and if you don’t own one then you’re truly missing out! They come in a rainbow of colors and I love how they’re relatively light weight, which also makes them perfect for all year wear.

I know what you’re thinking: but this is a post about styling Lilly in the colder months and it snows where I live! The main reason that I love the lightweight nature is that you can layer items under them.

From silk tops to denim shirts, everything pairs nicely and lays so comfortably under the cardigans. One of my biggest pet peeves is when cardigans are too tight to layer or the sleeves are too long, and I’ve always been so impressed by this option from Lilly!

Tip #2: Add Lilly Pulitzer Accessories

Sometimes it’s just too cold to wear anything other than a sweater but you still want to feel like you’re on vacation. No worries: add an accessory!

Two of my favorite purchases have been Lilly Pulitzer headbands and this Lilly Pulitzer straw bag. Both pieces are incredibly versatile and can be combined with so many outfits to constantly give you new looks.

One tip for adding a bright headband: balance your outfit! Sometimes it’s easy to want to go overboard and add too many accessories: if you’re adding a headband try to choose a simpler pair of earrings or skip the necklace and opt for a bracelet. Your outfit will look incredibly polished this way and feel more sophisticated.

Tip #3: Wear a Sweater with Your Lilly

This is the perfect option for those days that are warm enough for a fun pair of pants or skirt but you’re looking to be a little cozier. Those late winter days are the perfect for this option when it’s nice and sunny in the afternoon but still jacket weather.

I love stocking up on solid-colored sweaters and then pairing them with Lilly on the bottom. It not only changes the feel of the piece I’m looking to highlight, but I love how doing this makes certain colors in my Lilly bottoms pop!
