When I was a kid, I could never understand what my mom meant when she would tell me this was her favorite holiday. I mean come on – she chose this over Christmas! As I’ve gotten older, I’ve begun to appreciate the beauty of this day and what it symbolizes. Spending time with the people you love and taking time out of your schedule to gather and be thankful for everything you have been blessed with.
Growing up, my family would often disagree on what “appropriate Thanksgiving clothing” looked like. My dad’s family was more traditional and we would wear our Sunday best to dinner. And I would usually be complaining about my tights itching me – classic six-year-old Emi. My mom’s family was much more casual and embraced the “comfortable collection.” Aka we’d all show up in our “eating pants” and basically try and cram as much food in our bodies as physically possible.
Maybe you have a gathering you’re attending and people have different expectations on what everyone should be wearing. Dressing for an occasion like this can honestly be so stressful.
Behold the blanket scarf!
There’s something so chic and cozy – two words that never show up in sentences together – about blanket scarves.
Layer them on top of knitting or sweater, as most people usually think of them. Or shake up the look and fold it into a triangle and throw it over your shoulder for the perfect Thanksgiving look. You can even hide your food baby with it after you have that second slice of pie.
Ask anyone who’s seen my scarf collection. They can tell you I have an entire drawer in my dresser devoted to them. And about half of my scarves fall into this category. They’re so diverse and can be worn so many different ways, I like to think of them as investments. Come on, they’re basically an outfit in itself which totally makes up for how much space they require to store.
